The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Takoradi Technical University, on Wednesday 26th of August handed over to 5 new executives to steer the affairs of the council until substantive executives are being elected for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The decision of appointing interim SRC executives came up as a result of the inability to conduct elections at the appropriate time due to the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic which caused the closure of schools for some time.
This decision was made by the TTUSRC Executive committee in consultation with management of the university. After thorough discussions and assessments, the SRC General Assembly approved the proposal and the green light was finally given by the academic board for the appointments to be done.
The interim SRC executives include Mr. Timothy Tarziet, President, Miss Rohi Nana Mortey, Secretary, Mr. Justice Egyir, Treasure, Miss Zelina Dadson, Women’s Commissioner and Mr. Ebenezer Donkor, GNUTS ambassador.
This private handing over and Inaugural ceremony took place at the SRC conference room on the main Campus which was Chaired by the Vice Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mrs. Kate Neequaye. Also present was the National Alumni General Secretary of Takoradi Technical University, Mr. Joshua Kwabena Anim.
Mr. Timothy Tarziet until his appointment as the interim SRC president, was the Audit Chairperson of the SRC for the 2019/2020 academic year.
The core mandate of the Interim SRC, is to organize the SRC general elections and hand over to the newly elected executives.
However, the Various Faculty Associations and JCRs are preparing to hand over to their interim executives to also conduct the elections at their level.
